Jeffrey Tanenhaus is a writer and photographer with a passion for passport stamps. His articles on exotic destinations, architectural features and restaurant reviews have appeared in publications at home in New York and abroad.
Jeffrey’s street-smart skills – honed through journalism and living on three continents – give an edgy yet unbiased angle to his work. He added a video recorder to his freelance repertoire by producing a series of short clips highlighting destinations around Colombia for Tripfilms.com. Continuing further south, he spent seven months studying Spanish language and Argentine literature and cinema at the University of Buenos Aires.
Before embarking on adventures in Latin America, Jeffrey taught English in Tokyo for two years. He blogged about cultural differences and humorous episodes in the classroom while contributing to Japan’s leading English language publications.
Jeffrey graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College where he wrote prolifically for the nation’s oldest college newspaper. He was then promoted to editor of The Dartmouth’s Arts & Entertainment section. His degree in geography landed him a job on the far-flung island of Guam working at Micronesia’s largest resort as a land and sea sports instructor.
Currently Jeffrey can be found pointing out local landmarks from the top of double-decker tour buses looping around Manhattan. He is also the author and photographer of New York City Essential Guide. It consistently ranks among the iPhone’s top apps for anything about New York City and in the top 50 paid apps for worldwide travel.
